Heart Month!

A Message From Barbara Traycee

Dear Matt,

February is the month of the Heart. It's no surprise that physical health and well-being unite this month.

I view it as a time to both rededicate ourselves to health AND celebrate the ones we love.   Heart month is the perfect time to re-focus on heart-healthy practices - awareness of our diets, our exercise and most importantly our regular screenings.  Heart disease is the leading life- threatening disease in the United States.  No matter your age, your awareness of your eating habits and personal lifestyle need to be considered. Now is a good time to take positive steps towards living our lives with a healthy mindset including regular visit to your physician, healthy eating, and regular exercise.  It is a time to put our heart health first, giving us the opportunity to focus on ourselves and on those who we love- a spouse, child, or aging parent.

Valentine's Day is my favorite part of February.  What are your plans for Valentines Day, 2011?  Will you be sending notes of appreciation to your parents? Have you thought about sending a Valentine to the senior citizen who lives next door? How about giving the gift of time and reminiscing with a loved one?

February and Heart month are reminders to us at Traycee Home Services that taking positive steps to good health and performing acts of kindness are truly deeds that shape the heart.

Wishing you a good Heart Season

Sincerely,

Barbara Traycee Vice President and Co-Founder

Heart Disease is the Number One Life Threatening Disease In America

About every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event.

In 2010, an estimated 785,000 Americans had a new coronary attack, and about 470,000 had a recurrent attack.

About every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event, and about one every minute will die from one.

Routine check ups, exercise, and eating healthy are important ways to keep your heart healthy.  We also know that reaching out to those who need some assistance can effect their heart both physically and emotionally.  Traycee Home Services has experienced staff to give the hearts you love the assistance they need.

A Look at Tax Breaks for Caregivers

If you're one of the 62 million Americans caring for an adult, you know how costly it can be. Caregivers shell out an estimated $5,531 per year for out-of-pocket expenses on basics like medicine, transportation and food.

And that doesn't even include indirect costs, such as the effect caregiving has on your health, career and retirement savings, as reported yesterday in the SmartMoney.com story, "The Hidden Costs of Caregiving."

Luckily, the IRS offers some breaks for caregivers - although you have to know where to look.
